Pamela Rose Associates is an accredited training centre for Open College Network.
The Trainers’ Course will therefore be a nationally Accredited Course and subject to internal and external verification systems.
The moving and handling trainers programme is for people wanting to teach moving and handling skills and principles within their place of work. All training fulfils the induction requirements as set out in the minimum care standards for the Care Standards Act. All training follows guidelines published by the Health and Safety Executive and National Back Exchange, in addition to professional bodies of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, the College of Occupational Therapy and the Royal College of Nursing. The course also meets the requirements of the All Wales Passport Scheme.
So what’s different about this course?
The course will be aimed at trainers working in community or individualised settings to enable them to design and deliver appropriate, suitable and sufficient training programmes for their staff. The training they deliver needs to be
Work specific and relevant
Cost effective
Proven to change policies and attitudes
Based on individual and person centred care plans
This approach to individualised training programmes and service user care planning meets government targets to expand more services into the community and other settings away from the traditional NHS and replaces the traditional blanket training of
Theory followed by standard practical sessions based in a classroom. Although the training is classroom based it will concentrate on scenarios and problem solving.
These workplace/employment settings may include
Community Care Agencies
Residential or Nursing homes
Homes for service users with dementia/learning difficulties
Individualised support
Sheltered Housing
School support work
Direct payment schemes for adults or children
